2024 Mid-Year Update Hello NMA Members! Spring flew by, and summer is about to begin with Memorial Day this weekend! Our Summer activities include the annual NMA Charity Golf Outing set for June 26 at Indian Creek Golf Club in Omaha, with a 10am check-in and 11am Shotgun Start. It will benefit Food Bank for the Heartland as our designated charity. We already have more than 50 golfers signed up to play! Sponsorships for the golf event and Annual Sponsorship Options are available. Click here for all of the details and we hope you'll sign up soon! Vote to Amend NMA Bylaws: The bylaws for our Association have been reviewed and our Board of Directors is proposing some amendments to better reflect the current operations of the Board, including the role of the Executive Director. An e-mail with the proposed amendments will be sent out this Friday, May 24 and a brief Member's meeting will be held prior to the June 26 golf outing at Indian Creek, at which time a vote will take place to adopt the proposed bylaws. The outcome of the vote will go into effect immediately. Activities in the works: Beyond the NMA Golf Outing we are working on the following topics to be scheduled: Updates on the NAR Ruling, a webinar about insurance coverage and a networking event. Fall Conference reminders: June 30th is the end of the fiscal year to calculate the originations for our Champion’s Circle Awards at the Fall Conference. The Fall Conference is scheduled to be held at Nebraska Innovation Campus in Lincoln. September 24 is our pre-conference golf event at Highlands Golf Course in Lincoln. We are excited to offer another pre-conference activity that afternoon - watch for details coming soon. The Conference on September 25 will include three energetic keynote speakers, an industry update from the Mortgage Bankers Association, networking with your fellow mortgage professionals and the Champion's Circle Awards to wrap up the conference. Details regarding the speakers and agenda, sponsorship opportunities and registration will be available soon. Mortgage Professional of the Year: Who do you know that has been in the industry forever and is someone you call upon as a professional and that helps others be successful? We have a selection committee that can make it easy for you to nominate someone. Just CLICK HERE to submit your initial nomination online, to tell us who they are, where they work and info about your experiences with this professional. We will then follow-up to keep the ball rolling to get a full nomination submitted. There are a lot of stars in our group, and we want to help them shine! If you have any questions, feel free to send me a message at [email protected] or Executive Director Joe Pittman at [email protected]. Thank you for the feedback you’ve provided with the online survey and suggestions for our Education Committee. We look forward to seeing you at our upcoming activities! 2023 Year In Review
We are well into 4th Quarter of 2023 and our industry continues to shape and evolve in our growing economy. As we look toward the end of the year, I wanted to take a moment to share highlights from 2023 with the Nebraska Mortgage Association (NMA), take a glimpse into next year’s conference, and ask you to join us with events carved out for you, our Members, in 2024.
2023 began with many of us aiming to ‘build a strong foundation’ as we watched the Prime Rate continue to increase to strengthen the economy. Throughout the year the NMA offered encouraging messages such as Head Volleyball Coach John Cook “Dream like a Champion”. Mitch Holthus shared his story and talked about the ‘secret sauce’ to create a winning culture. A social media presence is important if done the right way. Ben Treadway shared information to create a marketing strategy to get you connected to the right people.
At this time, I would like to thank Jeremy Mueller, Board President, for offering leadership, enthusiasm, and tenacity to find solutions. Jeremy used these characteristics to coordinate the Fall Conference to be held in Kearney, NE which received overwhelming positive remarks! The NMA was also able to donate $2,000 to the Food Bank of the Heartland, and Jeremy has initiated a review of the by-laws to ensure they meet the needs of future board changes. Many thanks are also sent out to Joe Pittman, our Executive Director, for polishing ideas so they roll out smoothly.
The 2024 Fall Conference is targeted to land late in September 2024, and we are working with Innovation Campus and Scarlet Hotel to finalize plans. Final additional activities and speakers are in the works and will be shared as the time gets closer.
The Board is outlining activities that will benefit our Members in 2024 to grow in your professional career and knowledge in your industry. Please consider joining us on December 20th – in person at Champions Run Country Club OR via Zoom if you are not able to attend in person – to hear from Karl Schaphorst. In 2024 we are looking for new ideas and people to join our committees! Committees include Education, Communications/Social Media, New Memberships, Member Events and Community Involvement. Please send me a note at [email protected] or 402-750-7904. Joe Pittman can be reached at [email protected] or 402-397-0280.
We look forward to 2024 and want to network with each of you to assist in providing industry knowledge and ideas to achieve your business objectives!
